LAUSANNE, Switzerland - The newly merged softball and baseball federation will meet senior IOC officials on Wednesday to push their joint bid to regain Olympic status.
The new body, called the International Confederation of Softball and Baseball, is seeking a spot on the program for the 2020 Games. International Softball Federation President Don Porter says the meeting will help prepare a presentation to the IOC's program commission on Dec. 18-19. Riccardo Fraccari, president of the baseball federation, says further talks are planned with Major League Baseball about releasing players for the Olympics. The IOC will vote next September to add one sport. Karate, roller sports, squash, sport climbing, wakeboard and wushu also are competing.
Baseball and softball, voted off the Olympic program in 2005, were last played at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
New Technical Director for South Surrey Minor Softball Association
South Surrey White Rock Minor Softball Association ("SSWRMSA") President David Harris reports that SSWRMSA has entered into a contractual arrangement with Joni Frei to be SSWRMSA's Technical Director for the 2013 season.
Joni is a 2005 graduated from Georgia College & State University where she had an outstanding softball career. Over the last half dozen years Joni has coached at all levels including NCAA Div 1 and internationally. She is a NCCP Learning facilitator and NCCP CANpitch pitching instructor. Last season Joni was responsible for running the associations Learn-to-Play program.
David Harris commented, "Bringing Joni in to be our Technical Director is a result of the association executive listening to our coaches, especially the newer coaches. Joni’s wealth of softball knowledge and her incredible enthusiasm for the game will be a tremendous asset for our association. The Association believes that if the coaches are well trained and having fun then the players too will be well trained and having fun. "
While all SSWRMSA coaches are encouraged to take full advantage of Joni’s expertise, her main focus will be to support the coaches of our youngest players; Learn-to-Play, Mini Mite, Mite and Squirt.
Association members, coaches and those interested in becoming a coach for the 2013 season are invited to come out and meet Joni at our first coaching seminar of the 2013 season

It is with great pleasure that I am sending this announcement out to the members of the Softball Community. After 18 years on the Board of Directors, the past 6 as president, Dennis Bidin stepped down at the Softball BC AGM on October 20, 2012. Elected to the position of President, please join me in welcoming Rick Benson to the Softball BC Board of Directors. Also joining the Softball BC Board of Directors is Rob Upton. Both gentlemen have a long history of service to the softball community and will bring that experience to the boardroom table. If you wish to contact Rick or Rob their contact information is: President: Rick Benson firstname.lastname@example.org Member at Large: Rob Upton email@example.com
Softball BC President Dennis Bidin's s Opening Remarks:
This the last opportunity I will have to either mispronounce or forget your name at an AGM so I will
apologize for doing so now. It only took me 5 years to get Diane MacPherson’s name right so some of you
have no chance of me getting it right today.
On a more serious note we have again experienced a decline in registration and despite all the efforts of the
Directors this has been a continuing trend of the last few years. Maybe with a new President and a new
addition to the Board through the Member at Large a change to that trend is possible. It is also quite
disconcerting to see the number of reports that have not been submitted in time for inclusion in the Pre-
On to more pleasant things. Tonight we will celebrate the accomplishments of this past year and previous
years at our Awards Banquet. I know that Heather and the staff of Softball BC have been working very hard
to deliver another outstanding event.

As users of Surreys outdoor athletic facilities we are asking yourself and members of your organization including, coaches, trainers, players, parents and executives to complete a short survey. Information from this survey will help us gauge where we, the City of Surrey, are doing well and where we need to provide some additional focus.
I will be tabulating the results in approximately two weeks and am asking that you encourage participation from all those associated with your club, the larger the number of returns the more valuable the survey will be.
For Your convenience I have provided a link to the survey and would request you circulate it to your club members. I thank you in advance for your support and efforts in getting this out to other members.
If you have any questions regarding this request please feel free to connect with me at the numbers listed below.
Please forward this survey link to all members for their participation
